Oud oils and scents produce natural, quality fragrances derived from Agarwood trees which are found in select parts of the world.
The client, Ashe Mohammed, asked me to produce a brand identity that would reflect this luxury product and help him introduce these exotic aromas to new clientele. From the outset, the client’s business plan anticipated the growth of the business, which included creating an online store to reach a wider audience, so this was taken into consideration when concepting the logo.
The first stage of the design process was to sketch ideas based on the initial client brief. During this initial phase, I also researched the client's market so I had a better understanding of the product and the likely customer base.
As part of this stage, I produced three stylescapes and presented these to the client. From there, and with the client's initial feedback on each of the stylescapes, I was able to sketch further ideas for the identity of the brand. Using stylescapes and the client's review of these helped provide the correct visual direction for the project.
In designing the logo, my main focus was making sure I was able to create an identity that would work across various media. The logo had to work at a small scale for web and social media as well as when it was scaled up for print and packaging.
The final design incorporates the A and O, overlapping to create one symbol. There had to be a quality feel to the brand and this is reflected in the layout, colour and typography.
A repeating pattern was also created to expand on the branding and give it an eastern feel.
Showcasing the logo on all of the various touchpoints was vital. I also photographed the product shown below to help highlight the luxury presentation.
